My Slash Page
Warning: This page is about slash for those of you who don't know, a lot of slash(Not all) is filled with adult situations that you probably don't want your kids to read. Thus you have been forewarned and can protect your kids by keeping them away from this page.... For those kids who for some reason are here of their own accord I would reccomend leaving cause you might get into a lot of trouble from your parents if they caught you here...

What is Slash?
What is slash? You might be asking yourself this if you have never heard the word used outside of the verb form. Well to describe slash you must first know about fan fiction, so lets start there.
Fan fiction is when the fans of a particular television, comic, movie, book, etc. series decides to write stories based on their favorite universe using that already created universe as a base.... All fanfiction is what we like to call non-canon meaning that none of the stories that fan fiction writers write have any affect on the world of the actual canon (I.E. Official) universe that was originally created by the writers of said book, tv, movie, comic, etc. series. This leaves a lot of things up to the creative minds of the fan fiction writers, who many times will change a lot of the official canon universe around to suit the story they wish to tell. One big thing that is often changed by fan fiction writers is the social/intimate relationships of the characters of the particular universe that they are writing about. Which brings us to slash...
Slash is a small subset of fan fiction that deals primarily with relationships that never take place in the canon universe of the subject series. Why is it called slash? Writers of slash fiction tend to identify the story by pairing (I.E. Name/Name) the slash symbol that seperates the two character names is where this type of fan fiction gained its title from. The next important point is that most (not all) slash fiction is written about characters of the same sex. In fact I believe (Though am not 100% positive) that the first slash fictions were written about Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock(Kirk/Spock) from the original Star Trek series. There is slash of het pairings of course but they are far less common with male pairings taking the lead, followed closely by female pairings, then het pairings and multiple pairings rounding everything out... Another interesting fact is that most slash (again not all) is written by heterosexual women.
Slash comes in many flavors from simple stories of love and romance, to torrid sexually charged PWP (Plot What Plot) romps that would make a sailor blush. Some is bitter and angsty and some is light and fluffy.. There are two other conventions that you might like to know about before you start reading some slash yourself.. #1 is about AU slash.. AU (Alternate Universe) fanfictions are ones that take fundamental things known about the core universe and change them (I.E. lets take the Star Trek example futher, lets say that the crew of the first Enterprise turned thier backs on the Federation of Planets and became fugitives.) That's one example of an AU that makes fundamental changes to the universe there are many different possiblitlies for AU stories that certainly can be entertaining and fun.. (Slash stories in themselves are technically all AU however a lot of slash fiction tries to be complementary to the canon universe and generally do not in themselves warrant an entire AU... ) #2 The dreaded Mary Sue, a "Mary Sue" is a character that is added to a fanfic that is generally the writers personification of themselves in the fanfiction universe they tend to be goodlooking, smart, and able to win over many of the male characters pretty easily Mary Sues are either used to get two characters together or to play out the writers fantasy with one or both of them... Love them or hate them "Mary Sue" characters are part of the genre and some of them can even be extremely well written... Well now that I have explained it all to you on to the fun stuff...
